Seattle in the ‘30s
Beginning November 20, you can get a glimpse of downtown Seattle in the 1930s - constructed with over 140,000 brick Legos! Created by Art V., this remarkable depiction of Seattle ca. 1930 debuted at the BrickCon Lego Convention in Seattle. Art researched the project thoroughly, with particular assistance from the Seattle Room at the Seattle Public Library. He chose the 1930s for the architectural diversity and the fact that older buildings work well with Legos. Beginning November 20, you can find the Lego cityscape on the ramp at the back of MOHAI where other iconic artifacts are located.
New Book by MOHAI Historian
Dr. Lorraine McConaghy has recently published, Warship under Sail, The USS Decatur in the Pacific West, with the University of Washington Press. Based on original research on the Decatur and its officers and crew, the book is a vigorous, keenly rendered case study that illuminates the forces shaping America's antebellum navy and foreign policy in the Pacific.
