Search Finding Aids

Finding aids are guides which describe the contents of archival collections. These documents usually include a biographical or historical note describing the context of the collection; a description of the scope and overall content of the collection; a note on the arrangement of the collection materials (for example, chronologically, or by material type, subject or other facet); and a detailed inventory of the collection, generally down to the folder or even item level. The finding aid also includes administrative information about the collection, such as use and access restrictions, acquisition information and related materials. In some cases, finding aids will include links to digital versions of a selection of photographs in the collection.
